I've got a rebuilt transmission that I'm saving as a backup. The fluid has been drained, but should I store it with some gear oil in it?
What's the best way to store a transmission to keep it in good working order?

Put it in a plastic tub and spray it all over with WD 40. Maybe do not spray the seals. I cannot remember if we 40 is bad for them.

definitely store it with 80/90 in it! lay it flat as it lays in the car, and keep it in a dehumidified area
