This may be a known thing, but please comment.
I've noticed that original 914 6 transaxles often run within twenty five
numbers of the VIN.
For example, the car currently listed on Ebay is VIN 1259, trans # 1275, 16 after
Another. VIN 1215, trans 1233, 18 after
One more. VIN 2567, trans 2575, 8 after
This could benefit owners in search of matching number transmissions if
a large enough base can be gathered.
Or...... has it been done ?

Well, mine is 0430826 and trans 7500733. So 93 BEFORE. I've had the car since 1977 and trans never swapped.

This is one of the functions of the 914/6 Registry, I track all this data and have been able to reliably predict a 50 car range for engine and transmissions.
The transmissions are generally +/- 80 of the VIN.
