does anyone have a 1/74 up production 914 2.0 with a charcoal cannister on top of the fuel tank? Picture?
914Sixer
I have a late 74 with 75 gas tank .
dr914@autoatlanta.com
yes by late 74 they all had the late gas tank plastic expansion tank and charcoal canister in the back. All of the 74 1.8 models had the expansion tank in the back, but I am looking for some early 2.0 models with the charcoal canister in the front that were built in the year 1974. I am trying to establish the month that the canister for the 2.0 cars was moved to the back

Mine is also an early-build 1974MY 2.0, build 08/73, VIN 4742900862, silver button gauges and charcoal canister up front.

I had a 74 2.0 parts car that I gave to PMB to use for parts, it had the front charcoal canister (I still have the tank). Not sure I have the build date but let me see if i can dig up the VIN...

4742901909 - Pretty sure the car is gone/cut up but @Eric_Shea may still have the tags

4742904923 completion date 10/73 also has the tank upfront. 2.0 car.

My 1974 LE has the canister in engine bay with the attaching bolt through the trunk bulkhead but my 1974 3.2L conversion has it in the usual front position. The LE VIN is 442914854, built in March 1974 and the conversion's VIN is 4742909104, built in November of 1973. There is no indent in the rear engine bay bulkhead for a cannister mounting bolt on the earlier car.

rhodyguy Thanks for your comments.
I restored my 914 22-years ago and the photo's are recent. After restoration my first ride was September 23rd 1997 in it. About 10-years ago I did a quickie minor touch-up and it's been a labor of love keeping it clean. Do I drive it, only on sunny summer days. Later this year it will be moved to our new home in Northern MI for summer fun.
I know it's not what a normal 914 owner does, but we are all different. w00t.gif or some would say strange 914ers. popcorn[1].gif

My 1974 with production month 02/74 has the cannister in the front trunk. Still in place after all these years + many mods !
JeffBowlsby
Marty can you post the last 5 of your VIN? The LE cars stared in 2/74 and they all gave the canister in the engine bay.
