I recently had my targa pad recovered. It looks great, however I am having a hard time getting it installed. I am trying to test fit it and I can't get the thing to go on. Take a look at the following pics and let me know what you think. Maybe it doesn't slide back as far as I thought? Maybe I need to trim some material? Figured I should get your thoughts before I go hammering and cutting.

Looks like excess material in the groove that slides over the targa bar itself is holding up the installation. I would trim some to get it to slide back further. I have one the same way. Thats what happens when you use th ethicker vinyl material.

Thanks. Any ideas about the sections towards the outside of the latches? There really isn't anywhere for the metal lip to go. I can't remember if that was the case prior to the recover.

I have found that if you start to remove material from the middle of the pad and work your way out it will eventually work in at the ends. It will require some delicate trimming. Just remember you can always take off more, harder to add.

one more thing... I just did this too... I HAD to take off the little side pad(the one with the USELESS coat hanger) in order to get the pad in and seated right...

Did you have to do any cutting of material. In looking at mine, it looks like the material was pulled over the grove on the targa pad on the areas outside of the latches. The long stretch between the latches seems fine, just a bit tight.

I didn't... but mine wasn't a re-cover... I got a perfect(no cracks anyway) stock one from a member that parted out a car in Canada.

I can see where a re-cover may need a trim though...

who re-did yours?

Mike(Dr Evil) did it. It looks great so I don't want to screw it up when I install it.
