Just received my Tangerine Engine Lift Plate. It is the "screw-on" type. After attaching it to my floor jack, the plate swivels. Is that how it is designed (I assume for maneuvering) or do I have to take up the space with a washer to dog it down tight so it doesn't swivel? Want to be sure to be safe. Thanks.

I set up mine (the post type) to swivel about 45 degrees in either direction. This makes it easier to maneuver the engine and the jack.

It should swivel.

Thanks all. If Chris says it swivels, then it swivels. Makes sense.

Sounds like an update over my (12 year old) Tangerine lift plate with just the post. I will say its one of the best tools ever for dropping and raising the engine.

A must have tool for tool whores like me. Don't know how I lived without one before Chris made these. Wasn't like it was hard to drop an engine but this tool makes it even easier.

The swivel feature makes it easier to put the engine in. I use mine on every 4 cyl install.

Have you ever made one for a 6 @ChrisFoley ?

I made a couple of sheetmetal flaps to go over the inner suspension that keeps it from hanging up.

I made a couple of sheetmetal flaps to go over the inner suspension that keeps it from hanging up.

I looked at it, made a prototype, and decided not to go any further.
