Full Version: SEM Chip Guard paint?

Like the topic says, I'm prepping my rocker covers for paint and thinking SEM Chip Guard might be a good choice. I've become a big fan of SEM products and have a quart of trim black for the bumpers, but thought the chip guard might add a little protection while better matching the heavy, imperfect factory finish.

Anyone used it or have thoughts?

Hey Brent - this post from @johnlush caught my eye a couple of days ago - maybe something to think about:

Thanks Brian, I saw that too and thought it was a good idea, but not quite the OE finish I'm looking for on this build.

I've not used the SEM product but suspect it's close to whatever the factory stuff was (Wurth?). I have used 3M Rocker Schutz. Pretty easy to customize depending on what you're looking for by altering the viscosity, air pressure and spray pattern. Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure what the stock finish was because everything I've touched has been redone at least once. But given your proclivity for perfection I'm sure you'll sleuth it out! smile.gif

I used it and was very pleased. Matched original finish very well.
