I see the Ljet replacement seal to fit the oil cap on 914rubber website
where do I find the seal/gasket/o'ring for a Djet cap ?
or is it the same?

D-jet oil fill cap has no seals. No lion!

ok... now I'm confused.
my cap is smooth on top like all other Djet caps I've seen
I've also seen Ljet cars with caps that have ribbing around the top
here is what came out of my Djet cap\
I believe this is a 75 cap (only a guess) as its on a 75 block
its some type of dried hard rubber:

I think that's a segment broken off your cap. I will try to get a pic of my cap later.

just grabbed the cap from the car.
pictures are:
the cap and broken seal. Along with the O-ring I found in gasket kit last night that kinda fits?
and another picture with the O'ring laying in place
and also the top side of the cap

there is a channel in the cap where an O ring, or gasket has been smashed flat for 40 years.
when I tried to take it out it crumbled.
its not plastic... its really hardened rubber
so what is this cap from?
is it an L jet cap?
I'll go get another one out of the shed tonight and see if it also has the seal in it?

Well,
apparently I'm all out of spare caps/towers..
I'm doing such a good job of cleaning out!
I just ordered the Ljet one from 914rubber
we will see if it fits.
the O'ring from a VictorReinz kit fits pretty well
I just drove it 40miles this morning and no leaks
the old one was damp from oil vapors and not sealing... thus the reason I took it off an tried to look for a replacement seal.
the O'ring isn't perfect but seems to seal enough that it stopped my vapor drips.
anyone have a spare oil cap they want to sell?

Holy crap! You are right, there is a seal in there. It is softer than the plastic cap.

I'll report back in a few days if the Ljet seal fits ... or not... once it arrives.
I guess my big O'ring could be "good enough" if no seal is available.
I don't think the system needs a seal for the reason of vacuum leak.
but I was getting a bit of oil residue and vapors coming out as Positive crank-case pressure. I didn't notice it before, because my breather line was so restricted, that it caused the cork tower gasket to leak.
now with everything cleaned up, it was barely noticeable.
