I am trying to figure out how to remove speedo from instrument panel 1975 US model 914.
I need to repair odometer and have the instructions from a 911 viewpoint which starts with pulling out the speedo... but the 914 odometer connection looks different ???

Loosen the 6 screws that hold the panel in place, 4 on the front and two on the bottom edge.

With the panel loose you can push the gauge out of the rubber trim it sits in.

Remove and mark electrical wires as needed.

Unscrew the speedo cable from the housing, may need a small pair of pliers if the nut is put on supertight.

The odometer reset cable just pulls out of the housing but do it carefully.

Thanks falcor75!!

It just pulls straight out. No need to remove entire panel.

I pull the tach out first to be able to get your hand behind the speedo and unscrew the nut on the cable.
I agree no need to pull the whole cluster.
And take a picture of the connections to remember where they go.

You can get extra slack in the speedo cable by disconnecting it at the back of the transmission. It makes it easier to just pull the speedo
