I had it in a jig, hit it for a few minutes, no luck - then put it in a press until the jig broke.

Took it to a machine shop - he brought it to 6000 lbs before his jig broke. Told me to cut it off or heat and more pressure.

I thought I would come here for guidance.......perhaps a vintage Porsche mechanic in the NE area?

Help!

Success - I could not get a new P225 tool. Every supplier is sold out. Or could I get a used one at a price I thought was appropriate (for me) so I used a bearing splitter......a really big one.

You perhaps remember the last post where the machine shop put a couple of Buicks on top of the gear and it did not budge. Well, I put it in the bearing splitter and then whacked it with a large hammer a few times. Success!

So, basically, you just needed a bigger hammer.

It's like my father's advice:
If it doesn't move, hit it with a hammer.
If it still doesn't move, hit it with a bigger hammer.
If it breaks, well, you needed to replace it anyway....

I have a father like that - I don’t let him near any of my stuff!

Loaned him a perfectly functional utility trailer with OEM factory wiring that worked with all my vehicles.

I get it back a week later with wiring butchered. Lights didn’t work.

Never dawned on him that His POS truck and stromberg.gif wiring could be the issue and he cobbled the stromberg.gif out of my trailer to work with his truck. ar15.gif

Unbelievable

I’m sure I’m the mailman’s kid. Didn’t get my fix-it genes from him.
