I'm picking up a sweet little 1970 build 914 today. When I drove it yesterday I could barely find the gears. The car is very original and I'll keep it that way. I've been up too long tonight perusing threads related to shifter bushing replacements and I'm a bit confused between tail shifter parts and side shifter parts.

Do I just buy the 8 piece kit from Auto Atlanta and be done?

Kit consists of:

1 - r90142413200 - shift spring guide

1 - r90142413500 - shifting guide

1 -s91142413900 - o.e.m. Shift ball socket

3 - s91442422400 - shift sleeve / aka firewall bushing / rear shift transmission bushing 70-71

2 - r91442451200 - o.e.m. Shift lever ball

Anything else to consider "while I'm in there"

nice ride ! do not forget new conescrews, one time use only !
I understand the confusion, I did also buy the wrong bushing for my car at first and I could dust off my swearwords a bit again....
good luck with the work ! it will be very rewarding once it is done and you shift like a King again !

Tail shifters don't have cone screws
