I don't think it's that bad, brightens up an otherwise played down look. Maybe wouldn't have been my choice of color, but..
brcacti
I like it but not crazy about that color how about black or white?
johnhora
George...I don't think so...white or black maybe better...nice body color on that 914
brcacti
on SECOND thought black will match the tires and top color
Superhawk996
IMHO just feeds NARP syndrome.

Dino owners don't need to put Ferrari logos on the side. 914's don't either in my opinion.

If you're driving it just because it says Porsche or feel the need for the world to know that, you're probably driving it for the wrong reason.

I love the look of those low letters on the 914s
Tdskip
Is that marathon blue?
PCH
Very hard to read for us color blind folks.
dr914@autoatlanta.com
the silver paint is dull and faded and with all of the black and silver on the car, we thought of installing something to brighten it up a bit. Really do not car if it says porsche or anything else but had the stripe on the shelf.

ClayPerrine
I am not color blind, but I find that it is hard to read. There is not enough contrast.

Black would be good on that, though.

I’d use silver color on color is cool
mrholland2
Bright never hurts anything, especially as cars in general have become pedestrian (haha) in their paint colors.

I have tried to make it my mission to not purchase a car that is white, grey/silver, or black. Let all the bland folks drive their silver Dodges or white Fords and so forth.

Have I owned those colors? Yes. I will fess up here.

White 1979 LeCar
White 1985 1/2 Escort
Black 1986 Ford F150
White 198? Suzuki Samurai
Black 2002 Mustang GT
White 1981 Ford F150
White 1991 Cherokee

Plus 21 other cars of other more interesting colors. (Yes, I've owned 28 cars and I'm 'only' 55)

Keep life interesting!!
windforfun
Hmmm... Maybe.
Robarabian
I like how it ties into the orange rear lens.
Rleog
I prefer the light decals on a black background. These were from 914Rubber.

A wild color like that can look good if the wheels are the same... Maybe.
Craigers17
I'd put this logo between the tail lights:

Then, slap some Monster Energy, UFC, and Ducks Unlimited stickers on your rear window and bumpers. That way, everyone will know what's up.

In all seriousness, these cars look much cleaner with minimal or no badging in my opinion.

I like that look too! A black stripe would look great with body color rockers too.
rjames
No. I'm not a fan of the Porsche side stripe in general, but the neon orange screams "look at me" on an otherwise nicely understated example of a 914.
bbrock
Enough tip toeing around. Somebody has to say it. barf.gif I'm not opposed to side stripes but that color combo makes me icon8.gif

I agree with bBrock!

NO.
theer
I like the side stripes, too, but that color just doesn’t work... maybe yellow to match the rear caliper?

Also, Neon green would “go” better with silver, IMO.
SKL1
No. Only side stripes I've ever liked are the "Carrera" ones...
rhodyguy
I've never seen the rocker panel installation before. Does it hold up down low? Irish greenish. Dif colored sets depending on your mood. Mixed colors. Off the car would make the task a breeze.
BillJ
Don't like them. That color doesn't work either i think.

not really the best combo I think...maybe green or black suits it better......

My sentiments exactly. Always thought the decals were a result of a NARP complex and a need for validation of a 914 choice.
Lucky9146
I vote off, not needed, not attractive either. Suggest none, or black if you absolutely have to.

I would say Black, I think it would look much better. biggrin.gif
Literati914
Most all Porsches have run these type of decals, including the mid-engine air-cooled race cars.. so I see no reason a 914 shouldn't if the owner likes 'em. Should we remove our engine lid letters too? It's not to everyone's taste, I understand .. but NARP = kiss my bootyshake.gif

I'd take it black.. like my...

coffee

The stripe has been on some 914s since new. Dad's 74 had it and I like it, but its all about what you like.
brcacti
For me black is easily the best color
