I’d like to know what dealer originally sold my ‘74 2.0. No Kardex available for cars made after ‘69 per my research.
Does anyone know how to find this information? My current owners manual is a replacement.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Jack

A few years ago (prolly 10!) I stopped at a local Porsche dealer.
I don’t know what program he had but he was able to pull my record
up using my VIN. No charge. He may just have been a cool dude.
Worth asking I imagine. Not sure of any other avenues unless you need a secret handshake with the factory peeps or the recently formed Porsche Classic facilities.
Good luck!

start there.
i am lucky enough that a folder with the windows sticker and the sales receipt etc were passed down thru 4 previous owners. you might get a clue from some p.o. records if they were passed along to you. good luck with the search!

If you are lucky enough to have the maintenance booklet that came with the car, it might be on that. Mine has the dealer and name of the OO recorded in it. I'm also able to track some of the car's movements by changes in the dealer stamps at maintenance intervals.

Its fun to find out where sold and who first bought our 914s. The original owners manual had the first buyers name, state sold and I contacted him on facebook too.

My '74 was sold on July 20/74 in Kelowna, BC. The dealer stamp looks like Merican Motors but the last 3 letters in "Merican" are hard to read. But the dealer number is 1429 which is the same dealer number as the present Turner VW, in Kelowna.
The 1st owner never filled out the info.

I also have the manual for the dealer installed AudioVox AM/FM cassette, the manual doesn't say AudioVox anywhere, it just has a line drawing with Volkswagen on the faceplate. I still have the radio and it looks exactly like the manual line drawing, except it says AudioVox on the cassette door flap and doesn't have Volkswagen on the face plate.

I have the '74 owners manual which says Canada on the inside cover and is in english and french.
I also have a '74 owners manual from a parts car originally sold here in Ontario, it also says Canada on the inner cover but it's in english only and it also has the maintenance stamps in the manual, not in a separate booklet.

Does your paperwork show the address of Eddys German? I’m not familiar with that dealership, I am only familiar with Thornton vw/Porsche in Stockton.

This is what the maintenance book looks like in a 914-4. Mine came from Towson Valley Motors, original sale date October 16, 1973. Original Owner's name is pretty effectively blacked out but second owner is listed; changed hands less than two years later in 1975.Click to view attachment

Thanks for the responses, guys. Interesting stories. I’ll start by asking my local dealer for help. As mentioned, the original owners manual was lost by a PO and what I have now is a replacement with no dealer info.
Thanks,
Jack
