I had no idea there was so much internal differences in oil filters. I assumed they were all pretty similar. Watch this...

I asked this question about oil filters. Pulled the FRAM and bought a Wix XP on Amazon

This isn't new knowledge... Fram has always sucked.
K&N isn't far behind them now, some of their filters I have cut apart have 1/3 of their pleats filled with glue from the assembly process.
Napa Gold (Wix) for me.

Never used them and will never on a car of mine,OEM Mahle or Mann, used to use Bosch on my watercooled cars and had no issues with them,I believe this problem has been documented for a while now with Fram,I base my choose on the cost to rebuild my "six" due to a shit oil filter and not keen to test different brands or for that matter any of my engines,in real terms its only a few bucks for a better filter, rant over.
P.S Knecht filters are still availiable as I use them in my Audi 3.0 TDI motors, research indicates they are in fact Mahle filters as Knecht were bought out by Mahle group….same filter different box marketing.

Funny. I bought a Napa gold because there is a Napa distributor warehouse down the street and they were the only ones that had a 914-6 oil filter in stock. I thought I was being cheap/dumb buying Napa over a brand name. Then I see the video and reviews. Now I'm smart.

Just bought these,

WIX oil filter number for /4 is 51521 There may other models of WIX

They also have an air filter for the 2.0 FI air cleaner #46025
fixer34
Wix XP 51515 on Amazon for $9 US for a factory 6.
I believe NAPA Silver/Gold all end in 1515 also.

That is a Mann filter, same as Mann W940. Are you having a problem with the brand? I run Mann, in everything I own. Just wondering why you want to switch?

No the Mann OC61 seem fine, never an issue, I just can't get them local.

Looks like I can get the WIX 51515 from rock auto but only a case of 12, but the price is just under 2 NAPA gold's locally. Rock Auto doesn't have the Mann OC61.
EDIT I see Rock auto has WIX 51515XP filters, maybe I'll give them a try.

I do have a Mann 940/25, which is an early 90's diesel jetta filter that cross references to the OC61.

WARNING!! BLATANT SHILLING!

You could contact one of the Porsche parts vendors and get them to send you a few.

I know they keep them in stock at Zims.

@Partsguy22 should be able to help you get them.

You do know FRAM is a subsidiary of Champion Labs...

Thank you for posting this. Fram was my brand. One time I got a promotion where I purchased 5 quarts of oil and got a free Wix filter. I almost threw it away cuz I thought it was garbage compared to my Fram.

That's the style FRAM I just replaced. Orange with black coating. Sure makes getting it off easier though. Yea, I thought the same thing, major brand name, see them advertised in racing a lot, has to be good, right?

Did a little cross reference work at NAPA site.

NAPA gold -4 filter FIL 1521 $10.99
NAPA gold -6 filter FIL 1515 $8.29
Not sure why the -6 is cheaper, go figure. Specs on both the filters are the exact same except the -6 is longer. Going with the -6 Platinum FIL 411515 (11.99) for my 2056. Local store pick up, NO shipping stupidity.
