Funny the red line is a 62 mph. Must have been flying in Japan in the 1970's, lol-2.gif

It's an island. If you drive too fast in one direction, you'll fall off the edge and into the ocean. av-943.gif Could be useful in Hawaii.

Cool part. Would be even better if it were a silver dot!

No, they were not. I remember crawling along the freeway from Ohio to Texas as a kid. The speed limit was still at 55 when I got my license. I am sooooo glad the "double nickle" is gone.

Driving cross country in a 67' Chrysler Newport Custom with my folks and my new learner's permit. Safe and prudent speed limit across Montana. Mom was asleep on the back bench. I was doing 100 for a long time and my Pop was ok with it. Mom woke up. No good.

this is the 1970 version as used on a 6

If you're feeling creative, want to "roll your own" and modify your existing speedometer, a similar fascia (as well as a few other variants) can be ordered from Germany:

My daughter stays in Japan right now. Since she is bilingual Japanese and German, I thought about asking her to bid on this rare piece of 914. smile.gif

But - I checked my original Porsche parts manual:
914 641 504 30 is the "normal" europian version for the 1.8 and 2.0.
The japanese version would be 914 641 507 00

I guess, this "Japanese" speedo had just the face plate replaced some time. Probably a car that was not designed for the japanese market in first place.
Less desireable for the serious collector. sad.gif

Obviously there was no "japanese" Version for the early 1.7 cars.

Greets, Arno
