First check and make sure the hinge mounts aren't broken or starting to break. A good sign of trouble is lots of creaking.
Mark the current position of the lid on the rear hinge brackets, so you know where you started. Take the trunk latch off the tail panel, this is so you can put it in the closed position without having to unlatch every time. Barely loosen the decklid mounting bolts so it will hold position yet move with some force. Adjust the position of the lid and tighten it up, replace the latch, and lubricate the pivot shoulder bolts.
