Full Version: Rear Trunk Lid adjustment ?
I have an original 19000 mile car, but the rear deck lid is not correctly aligned, no gap on one side large gap on the other ? Is there anyway to adjust these lids ? Don't believe it's ever been hit or repaired ? Help please
First check and make sure the hinge mounts aren't broken or starting to break. A good sign of trouble is lots of creaking.
Mark the current position of the lid on the rear hinge brackets, so you know where you started. Take the trunk latch off the tail panel, this is so you can put it in the closed position without having to unlatch every time. Barely loosen the decklid mounting bolts so it will hold position yet move with some force. Adjust the position of the lid and tighten it up, replace the latch, and lubricate the pivot shoulder bolts.

No creaking, raises and lowers smoothly, just aligned to one side ?
The other thing you can do is once you’ve loosened the hinge bolts a little gently bunt the hinges a little in the opposite direction you need the lid to move. There’s not a lot of lateral adjustment though. If it’s really out of whack and you can’t get it where you like, you might have to slot the hinge brackets where the lid bolt on
