Full Version: Interesting new 15-inch tire combo from Yokohama

The 225/50R15 won't be a fit under stock rear fenders, but will be for some cars. The 195/55R15 will likely fit just about any 914 with 15-inch wheels. Overall diameter front to rear within 0.6 inch, so a bit better than running the more common 205/50R15 & 225/50R15 combo.

Tagged as "Extreme Performance Summer" with super simple sidewalls and a very 1980s tread pattern, at price of $177ea and $191ea. Also available in 195/50R15, 205/50R15, 205/55R16, 225/50R/16, and 245/45R16—with the latter three being ideal for 914s and 911s on 16s. 200 treadwear rating would be more than enough for me, given the limited mileage my 914 gets.

I suspect the performance is pretty impressive... idea.gif

Anyone try them yet?

So I currently have Advan A-052s on my GT car... They're amazing, quiet, great traction, have never tried them in the wet but in dry conditions they're pretty damn impressive. I have them on 16" turbo 7s and 9s in 205/55/16 and 245/45/16

There are very limited options these day so it's fan-freaking-tastic that they're available for 15"

Nice find, especially for those of us addicted to 15" rims.

Agree the tread pattern evokes a bit of a Group B aesthetic......!

^ 16-inch Fuchs in those factory finishes on a GT wub.gif

(And the tires look great on them, too. Yokohama had the aesthetic dialed with the A-008 and AVSi back in the 1980s and 1990s—which somehow still looks right on 1970s Porsches…and these A-052s continue that legacy.)

Now, if only they'd offer 195/65R15 and 215/60R15...

Glad to hear/see Yokohama stepped up and is helping us old car folks out with some nice tires. Now I know what my next set of tires will be for my car. beerchug.gif

I've been running 205/55-15 yokohama's on my narrow body, I got over that they're a hair too small, I'm pretty happy with them.

@rgalla9146 as far as I know, they are super tight but don’t rub, Patrick Motorsports installed...

That’s pretty much a track tire with a 200 tread wear rating. I currently have Bridgestone re71 which used to be the autocross/track darling 200 tread wear tires (class limited). I’ve heard the A052 is as close as you can get to race Hoosiers.

These will be my next track tire, I can hardly wait to try them.

Used to run RE71's as daily driver tires on my Miata and AX on weekends (run what you brung ought to be the rule! No swapping at the AX location). ~ 12-15,000 miles. Usually this lasted two years with winter tires thrown on starting in October. Sandblasted the Fuch out of my rocker panels with road debris though! aktion035.gif

Especially for the "toys" out there my bet is the tires may age out before you wear them out.
