I bought my first 914 Gt this last weekend. The wheels on the car don’t do it justice and are quiet ugly in my mind . I will be installing 15x7 and 15x8 as pictured. What is the best tire size the run ? Looking for a nicer ride so something with a side wall .

That looks like fun, welcome. Post more pictures when you have time. Mark

Wow...those wheels on the car definitely do not belong on there. I like your new wheels, they will make a world of difference. Can't help with tires as my car is a narrow-body. But, I have 195x55x15's on it with no clearance issues at all. beerchug.gif

Are the wheels still on the car 5x130 bolt pattern?

I'm running 15x9 in the back and 15x8 in the front, and went with 225/50/15 all round.

This last pic is when I had a 9" fitted on the front just after I trimmed the front arches. You can see, even on the 15x9 these tires have a nice beefy sidewall.

If you plug those numbers (225/50/15) into a tire size calculator it will give you a range of different tire sizes based on rim widths that will give you a similar diameter/look to what I'm running: https://tiresize.com/calculator/

7s with 205, 8s with 225. That said, it also depends on the look you want. I have 8 and 9 with 225 and 245. I happen to like that look.
Wider fronts will steer a little heavier than narrower. Spacers also make a difference in both look and steering feel.

I run 225/60/15 on 8's all four corners

I like the retro look of the slightly higher profile tires - so for street tires I run 60 profile:

- 7" front and 205
- 8" rear and 215

Going narrower (vs. 225 or higher) width at the rear gives a more "stretched/taut" look to the tire. Personal preference.

Looking good... beer3.gif

Mine sits rather low. No rubbing issues.

Here's a better side shot

Love this car, Oscar - especially the passenger rocker!
