I bought a 914/6 a couple of months ago, my first Porsche. Should I be able to lock up the wheels on a panic stop from 40 miles per hour? Thanks
brant
yes...

rebuild the calipers if needed... new soft lines
and buy decent pads... the street pads are really really crappy
all performance new cars come from the factory now with Expensive, high performance pads.... the single biggest upgrade you can make

PMB Performance is the place to go for Porsche brakes.

I drove my car for 3 years, without realizing that the rear brakes hardly worked.
Could not lockup the wheels, no matter how hard I hit the brakes (even in the rain).
The car slowed down sufficiently, on fronts only, so I thought that it’s just the way it was going to be.

But... Just installed rebuilt rear calipers (by PMB) two days ago.
It’s a world of difference. Now braking is more fun then acceleration.

Thanks PMB...
