I just came across this one today, and it's located in my town. I don't know the seller. But if anyone wants a PPI done on the car I'd be happy to look it over for you.

My question too. It's great to post stuff like that IF you know or have a strong basis. Otherwise, it may be unfair to characterize someone's nice car.

I was curious/confused if it was the same car. I took the VIN from the Ebay add and looked it up in the 914World VIN search. Looked like the exact same VIN/914 to me...

"Donor car". Is the consensus this car was sectioned? "Investment grade quality"...

I let the seller know about this thread and suggested he comes on and clears it up. I believe he thinks the car has not been wrecked.

As I said above, I questioned the seller about any accidents.....here was the reply I received on Ebay from the seller..

He unquestionably thinks the car has not been wrecked....or is untruthful about it.

Great idea!! very reasonable to do that for the good of the community.

Unless he's the only owner of the car, then it is impossible for him to state
truthfully that there are no accidents. How would he know? It seems like you
should ask how long he's owned the car and see if he has contact info for the
previous owner.

A 5 second look at the front trunk fender VIN will tell a lot. Judging by the pictures, no way that could be straightened out.

And even if it was a front clip replacement, someone did one HELL of a job. Front trunk and passenger door gap clearances look damn near perfect.

I agree- those gaps look perfect. Who ever did the repair job, assuming that is the car seen wrecked above, did a first class job across the board. Let's face it, these cars are 50 years old and despite odometers showing sub-100K miles, we all know that most of these cars have had their odometers rollover at least once and often times a couple times. In all of that time they get bumped and there is damage. As long as it is repaired correctly, and the car does not have a branded title, I am fine with that.

For me, if I were interested in that particular Six, I would somehow get it in front of Kent Simmons, Auto Art Customs in Torrence, CA, so he could tell me the quality of the repairs.

Always amazes me how people criticize accident repairs but gush over how someone has replaced 90% of a rusted hulk with sections of 10 other cars like there is a difference. Anyone spending the amount of money it takes to purchase a 6 has to be savvy enough to do the research. In either case it is buyer beware.

I completely agree. So long as the work is done correctly, and if the car was in an accident, was put on a bench/table to make sure it was straight, I see no problem.

My car was never in a bad accident (only gift I got) but we replaced the nose, both front fenders, the passenger's rear quarter and both doors (I wanted the crash bars and better window winders). Then I believe Kent also used two different trunks that were in way better condition than mine. So, really, the driver rear quarter was the only one that remained. My car is later straight, no bondo and looks great to me.

Ya there are a lot of craftsmen out there. Look at the results. for the money who ever purchases the car will likely be very critical. as with any purchase really.
