Planning to install Tangerine shift rod bearing and replace the replacement bushing I installed a few years ago. Its now somewhat loose again. I noticed 4 divots around the tunnel shift rod. Do they serve a purpose? I wonder if they can rub against the bushing and cause premature wear?

Those are spot welds that hold the inner part of the shift rod to the outer. Maybe smooth the high spots down with some sandpaper ?

agree.gif but probably not your issue. If you notice the wear of the paint on the rod ends just short of those spot welds. Its just the nature of the design idea.gif
