Hi all-

Putting the final touches on a car that was media blasted and painted.

Did not realize the speaker pods need clips/mounting hardware -- correct?

I saw this post showing the clips and have placed a WTB in the classified.

Has anyone come up with a DIY solution for the clips?
or am I being dense and clips aren't needed?

Advice appreciated.

Best

Screws can be sourced at local hardware/big box. All Blaupunkt speakers were the correct fit, no clips needed. If you have an aftermarket radio like Motorola Sapphire, speakers were USA spec and mounted on cardboard to make up the difference requiring clips. Mounting distance between holes is 100 mm. Factory size speakers shown. New ones from AA and original Blaupunkt.

What speakers and radio are you using?

Thanks for the response.

Speakers I'm good. It's the Pods mounting to the body.
The aligned holes larger diameter than the stock screw -- so assume theres a plug/bracket missing????

Ok, know I know what you are looking for. They are the same as the bumper license plate plug.

Mark--- that is helpful!

Looking at image is it #1 or #2

Memory has me saying it's #1 the cage nut, but #2 could work too as it screws into plastic

Hmm... square peg in round hole.

Now looking at well nuts (aka rubber nuts) or Jack nut.

Metal clip #1 is the correct one.

Thanks! Now I just gotta figure out the part number and or name of this nut...

Can't believe how much time I've spent searching. Plastic license plate mounting anchors are just slightly too small.

OK - just so a future user doesn't have the same fun time tracking down this part as I did.

Porsche part # 999.507.002.02 clip is just a 'U" clip that Porsche is now substituting. It is NOT a useable replacement. Ironic as there is literally "no substitution".

The correct part is a speed nut license plate insert expansion nut.
Auto Atlanta shows on their website.

FWIW - I looked at all sorts of expansion nuts, domestic/import expansion parts, etc. This part (or suitable substitute) is surprisingly difficult to track down.

@mikey914 was hoping you had them, but told you couldn't source them yet. Hope this info helps.

@914sixer thank you for helping me source

Thanks for posting up. Had been trying to source and stock so we could fulfill these easy for those that need them.

Worst case we can make them but I'm holding out hope I can find them.

Are these the speed nuts for the bumper (license plate bracket to bumper and/or license plate to bracket)?
