Done lots of reading here and I've decided that the EZ Car Lift is right for me. Thanks to all who have documented their lift setups.

Confirming that I should get the XMC59 crossbars and a set of 4 hockey pucks.

Also leaning toward the Ridgid R5011 Drill, 1/2-Inch 2-Speed Hammer Drill as it's one of the highly recommended ones from the EZ Car Lift manufacturer.

Anything I'm missing?

Really looking forward to this - everybody raves about a lift....it's just finding the one that fits your situation.

I rented a Hilti from Home Debit, I had my ducks in a row so I had the deed done in well under 4 hours rental time.

The Hilti is the right tool for the job, my lift had at least ten 3/4" redhead bolts per side and it blasted through them like butter.

I need to set anchors for my maxjax. I was told to rent a big drill rather than buying a consumer model. And get a good drill bit.

I think there may be a misunderstanding. I believe the ez car lift needs the power of a drill to operate. The drill turns a shaft that raises and lowers the lift. But then again I could be wrong.

@Lg914 and @mepstein - you're correct. I apologize as I thought it was known that a drill is used to power the EZ Car Lift.

I'm just making sure I'm getting the right cross bars, etc...and if anyone has found anything specific for "must-have" items.

Just went through this yesterday - get the C59 for sure, We will have to drill new holes on the 64 to even get it to work. We tried it both ways logintudinal and lateral and both ways we needed to shorten the 64.

Make sure you buy their special socket only $6 money well spent

The EZ lift is really great for the 914 because they are so hard to get up in the air with a hydraulic jack and best of all the EZ is made in the USA completely!

When you say hammer drill does that mean like an impact gun? Do NOT do this if so. You do not want to bang on those internal parts. You need a significant drill. I have a 1/2" drill to work my EZ lift. The two "spacers" between the lifting rails on mine measure 28". Boytcho knows his shit. I bought what he recommended 12 years ago

I don't it's the same as an impact gun, no. It's on the "recommended" list from Boytcho and confirmed in an email from him. I think it's just got the extra handle on the side.

The key thing that Boytcho likes is two speed ranges - low for more torque at the beginning of the lift and then higher once you get the load up and moving.

But, yeah. Rent a "real" hammer drill and bits from Home Depot to set the anchors for the MaxJax. Money well spent seeing as how you will likely not use it again unless you start installing lifts. They are massive and powerful and will do the job quickly and more accurately then trying to fight with a consumer hammer drill that will stop in its tracks whenever you come across rebar or a stone in the concrete.

The casters are an extremely useful accessory, I have my EZ Car lift about 10 years, there have been times when the car was on the lift for 6 months or so, the casters make it easy to move the car around the garage. I have 3 sets of cross members, a long, the standard and a short set that I used to support the car and leave lots of space to weld the longs.
Get a heavy duty corded drill, variable speed and reverse, I used a big Harbor Freight drill until the chuck spun off, I bought a heavy duty Milwaukee, 90 seconds up 90 seconds down.

Love Mine, used it for years, some of the best money I spent on tools.

And why do you ask, powerful enough to lift the 8.0 Amps 0-2500 RPM, most Half inch drills will have the amps to lift, but are super slow. This one is twice the speed.

You can find them on Amazon as listed above, I got my from Home Depot, it was in stock same slightly less of a price, like Pennys, but had it the same day. And used it with in 20 minutes of it being in my hands. Got it 10 years ago so delivery options out to my area where not as robust as they are now.

One other thing I have found over the years. Your adapter makes a huge difference in the quality of the experience.

I grabbed an adapter for a 3/8" deep socket from Harbor Freight, and with the old 1/2" 800 RPM drill, it was fine slight vibration. Chucked it into the 2500 RPM drill and it felt like I was driving at 70 with four flat unbalanced tires. I replaced it with one from a better know brand. And did not have the same issue. So I stuck with it. That drill, deep socket, and adapter are a dedicated tool for that operation. Sits right next to the lift all the time. 10 years of loyal service, out of the drill, and still going strong.

If you call EZCarLift they(Boytcho) will go over all your cars and let you know the adapters you need, and the cars in your fleet you can lift with the lift.

Only thing currently in my fleet I can not lift is the X5M, 750i, and the Silverado. LOL that leaves a 914-6 which is on it, and the Boxster.

If he would build one that would lift say 7K I would be first in line. I like the lift that much, and have used several over the years and own a competitors right now that used Hydraulics, weights more, is more obstructed, lifts close to parallel but not quite, have hoses to have to deal with. A pump that has to be mounted flat, so it sits on the floor all the time. List goes on and on. That lift would be sold in a NY minute, and a EZ-Truck Lift purchased the very next. Might have my trigger finger ready to click when lift was picked up.

EZ-Truck Lift I like it, see Boytcho (the inventor) I gave you the marketing, heck I will even bounce the design idea I have in my head to make it work.

Heck I would like a setup with then narrow braces to build a lift that would go to the deck of a pickup truck. That way you can safely unload larger items with out cranes, a loader, forklift etc. I don't mind lifting large loads up in the sky, but doing it with out proper gear, is a pain. And can kill you!

Just reworked 64' crossbars so they will fit under 914 either way. Helps when I have a Bridgeport EZ Trak Milling Machine!
