Hi, I’ve just finished a rebuild on my 1972 1.7 and while fitting the sump seal I have noticed that one of the internal heat shield / windage trays seals had slipped out of its recess. Question is can I leave this out or is it possible to fit it through the sump cover by forcing it back into position. I don’t want to do a complete strip down just for this one small part. Advise will be greatly appreciated.

Anyone had this before or had missing gaskets ??

Unless you plan is to do a lot of AX, DE or racing (heavy cornering) I wouldn't worry about it. Add a tuna can if you've any concerns.

Thanks Mark, I was hoping that would be the only issue, I had thought there might be a oil pressure problem too. Won’t be hard cornering too much.
