Does anyone know the width of the Fuchs rims in the photo? I am running 185 tires currently and have come upon a set of 205s I'd like to install.. but only if practical.
Thanks, guys.

5.5x15
205x60x15 on Fuchs should fit most cars.
bdstone914
The width of all original 4 bolt Fuchs is 5.5 inches. The 205's will be a tight fit on the rear. You may need to roll the inner fender lip. The rear camber can not be to negative. Each car varies as to different brand tires.

Are you prepared to do all of the modifications required to convert from 4 lug to 5 lug?
BENBRO02
I have run both 205-50-15s and 205-55-15s with four lugs Fuchs on my 75 with no clearance issues. I know that later cars have different rear fender lips so that could be a factor. The lower profiles are smaller in diameter and improve acceleration but look a little small on the car. 50 series made the ride too harsh and I prefer the 55 series.

My original steelies are 5.5" and the 205x65x15" fit just fine. My 73 came with rear wheel fenders already rolled, don't know when that became standard?

I have a '72 and a '74 here, they don't have the fenders rolled, both fit 5 bolt fuchs with 205/60-15 and cookies with 205/55-15.
I had 195/65-15 on my 4 bolt fuchs on the '74 and they had room to spare.

Rolling the fenders was done by a previous owner. It wasn’t done by the factory.

The stock fenders do have a thinner inner lip in the tire area, not to be confused with rolled which would be an owner mod.

That must be what I thought was rolled on the inner lip of the fender tops, because I know my original owner Dad didn't roll the fenders on my 914!

The 4 lug Fuchs will take 205/50-15 tires. We have run them for over 30 years on Betty's 914. No fender rolling or chassis mods required. I will admit, the Hoosiers we ran for AX required a thin spacer on the rear to keep them from rubbing, but the street tires did not.

Be aware it will screw up the speedo calibration by over 5mph, and will make your engine rev a lot higher at freeway speed. I would recommend that you look at a 5th gear replacement to a flipped H or HB if you run them.

We ran 195/45-15 tires on her car for a while when we were competing in AX all the time. They were great on the AX course, but the car wouldn't clear a beer can laying on it's side.

@DC_neun_vierzehn - thanks for the input! I prefer to keep the four-lug Fuchs.

@Mark Henry - thanks for the input! And thanks for the bbq after the Mosport day a couple of years ago. Maybe you recognize my car. (-:

I think so but that was a hectic day.
You're welcome and I hope we can do it again soon. I'm into hosting another BBQ once we get the green light.

NP, I can only imagine for the host. A fun one, though.
