Full Version: Oil pressure relief Question

When the higher pressure of the cold thicker oil causes the oil to bypass the oil cooler, does all the oil go to the galley that supplies oil to all the bearings? OR is there a way for that oil to be dumped directly to the sump. I ask because of this diagram.

Early cases dump excess pressure cold oil back into the sump.
Later cases directed the oil into the oil pick-up circuit.
