That looks like an aftermarket emergency battery disconnect.
It should have come with a (usually red) key to turn it on/off.

Like dis ...

Note, if yours did not come with a resistor, i would not use it at all because it can fry your alternator.

That’s exactly what it is because I have the red key connected to the keychain.
