Hi guys,
1974 2.0
When I accelerate from a stop I can feel a clunk in the clutch pedal and (I think) feel it in the shifter. It happens only when I engage the clutch and start accelerating.
no clunk when shifting to second or third or 4th or 5th, just a clunk when I lift the clutch pedal a few centimeters and accelerate. Also nothing is felt while downshifting.
No grinding of gears, shifting is smooth ..
Any ideas ? Adjustment needed of the clutch cable ? What and how would you check/test ?
Clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing are all new.
thks

When I had this problem it was the engine mounts.

The front engine mounts are seperated and allow the engine to lift and
thump back down

Yup, you can lightly jack under the engine and see if it lifts from the bar, that would show side and failure point.
Been there

maybe this will give you idea how the engine mount look
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...334845&st=0or maybe your clutch tube is/was hitting the shifter when pushing your clutch pedal.
check the weld of the front clutch tube to the left side of the tunnel(left side of shifter from the tunnel).
