Is the steering wheel nut size 27MM?

Doesn't matter, both should work just fine.

Leave the nut loose when you remove the wheel so you don’t smack yourself in the face if the wheel lets go when you pull it.

Yes.
On mine I had to use a wheel puller. I think it's been rode hard, and put away wet too many times.

First make a mark on the wheel and the splined hub so it goes back together in proper rotation.
