For reference, I had a steel one laying around, weighed 9lb and 8.7oz or 9.54lb

I always thought there was a bigger difference but I weighed each on a scale and got the same numbers.

Probably because the aluminum piece has more material.
Steel is a hollow tube with stamped pieces welded to it, aluminum seems like a casting, thicker it to compensate for strength.
