Hi mate - thanks for posting.

Very handsome, I agree. There is a LOT of DeTomaso Mangusta in that design.

yep, panteras are great i reckon.
this thing was running just in front of the pantera.
same idea. american grunt in an eyetalyun chassis.

i like the back end of the amx.
apparently it was styled purely in detroit.
i think that is why i find it interesting. its a bit different to eyetalyun penmanship.

i liked the you tube vid just because of the story.
dick teaque's personal mechanic who looked after his cars secured this one.
it sounded like it was down at heel when he got it, no drive train etc.
and he just stashed it and dreamed. and never got to it, insufficient resources.

there is a very similar kind of story here.
general motors aus division proposed a plastic fantastic in the late 60s. torana gtr-x.
i saw it as a kid.
it still exists.
there were two alleged to have been built. one got thrash tested into the ground.
the show car was preserved.
but a third one existed. a pre production build up car.
but gmh (general motors holden) blew up the project.
the third car got disassembled and trashed over the years until it ended up next to the skip at the factory. it was rescued by the engineering department. an holden mechanic/engineer managed to purchase it somehow. and stashed it.
and could never complete it. just used to look at it and dream.
he died.
and now his family have put it in the hands of a restoration mob to try and reconstruct it.

the concept car, still preserved and now restored.
the way it was when i saw it as a 10 year old.
(think that is why i like steelies, somehow they got burned into my juvenile mind, even if they were chromed).

yep

mangustas are good. seen one once.

however dick teague was on to something with the hip treatment on the AMX/3.
no eyetalyun could do it if left to their own devices.
apparently the eyetalyuns struggled with his design and decided to improve it on the first few they fabricated. he had to put his foot down by all accounts. it seems they excused their modifications with some excuse about converting imperial measurements to metric.
but.....of course they were "improving" on him. his design team were right.

i have a bit of a soft spot for ramblers as all AMC products were known in australia.
they established an operation here called AMI (australian motor industries).
when i was a kid there were a few AMXs getting around. eye catching car.
not AMX/3, but i think ti was a kind of a javelin restyle. or a hornet. can't remember all the names. old guys used to drive the big ramblers as an alternative to chev impalas or english rovers.
