Hi:

I've had this car for 4 months and finally realized it was odd that the keyhole was so far recessed. Also I had no steering interlock.

Sprayed some lubricant in and fiddled about and now I can get it to pop out, but only when turning the key hard to the left and using friction to pull it out with the key.

Maybe it will keep getting better but it feels like there is not much spring pressure behind it. Is this a known age related issue? Is there a replaceable spring in there somewhere?

Or could there be an issue with the key?

take it apart and clean the spring and replace the small sponge
