Thay can easily be converted to Coarse Spline for the 901s for about $450 in new parts.

im clueless at this stuff. but you arent able to use the fine spline shafts in a 901?

(i know you can use the 915 coarse spline ones in a 901)
KenH
To the best of my knowledge all 901s have Coarse Splines. - - and some early 915s & 925s.

A 915 differental will not fit in a 901. The coarse splined 915 differental drive flange splines are the same as a 901, and the drive flanges will interchange.

But the differentals will not.

can we get a link, or an item number?
i am shopping for 915 parts...
(late, if it matters...)

The LSD assembly itself will fit both 901s & 915s. You can attach either Ring gear to the LSD.

Ken,
It's not going to fit into a 901/914 transmission case.

But.. if you want to waste your money, don't let me stop you.
Aaron Cox
one of the ads says it will... with modifications...

let him explain what needs to be modded clay....
KenH
You remove the existing ring gear from your diff. You then bolt it to the LSD assembly. You will need to purchase different length bolts from your Porsche dealer.

You will have to set the backlash and preload.

The LSD itself is the same for 901 & 915s. The bolt patterns are the same - I know because I just did one.

The gears inside the LSD can be changed to fit either Coarse or Fine spline output shafts

very cool.

BUT - you cannot run fine spline output shafts through a 901 apparently?
KenH
The C/V joint shafts that bolt to the Tranny have a coarse spline.

You could convert the half-shafts to fine spline but thats a bag of snakes.

The point here is a new ZF LSD is about $1700, 901 or 915.

Used 901 LSDs are seldom for sale.

The parts to convert a used 915 unit are about $450, so if you can get a used LSD at a "good" price you can save some money.
