Fellow Teeners,

How is the best way to get into the rear trunk to un latch It?
Any ideas would be surly appreciated..

Push one of the roof top latch cups into the trunk from the engine bay and gat a bunch of ratchet wrench extensions with a 10 mm(?) socket on it to reach the bottom latch and unbolt it. Light the trunk inside with a light from the other latch cup. Be patient. Consider running with the upper latch piece removed to avoid this common issue, the trunk lid stays down just fine without it.

The poorly designed “tongue” on the back of the lock tumbler assembly has probably broken. You have 2 options. (1) Try to unbolt the hold down piece as stated above by patiently fishing for it thru the targa latch cup holes or (2) go caveman and drill out the center of the lock assembly. That’s your only option if the mechanism broke with the top inside the trunk. I know this from experience!!!

Sometimes it works to carefully push down on the lid at the lock point, then immediately pull it up. Careful to not dent your hood.
