Looking at this new set of Mahle piston/cylinders in my stash. They have the following stamps. Are they for 2.0-2056 or something bigger/smaller? I'm trying to identify some of this stuff I have.

Sorry for all the questions but google has not been as helpful as I expected.

Stock USA 94mm, they have small dish on top. 7:6 to 1. Good set to have.

Thank you for the feedback!

Those are the standard size for a 2.0 liter engine in a 914.

You could also, you know, measure them. With a ruler or calipers?

You may need some more info to identify. I recently bought a set of NOS P&C that had 7.6 marked instead of 8. My set was identified as 94mm for the US 2.0 engine. But the part number on box seemed 1 digit off. Further investigation found that they are actually for the 912E. The dimensions for the set is almost identical to that of the US 914 2.0 engine. I have not been able to find if there is any real difference between the two P&C sets. But I do believe that the blue stamped number is meant to convey the CR of the set.

After a bit more research, I think what you have is a euro 2.0 P&C set.

Look at an older classified ad.

Based on the 2015 pricing these must be worth quite a bit in 2021!

Which is “better” or more desirable?

I would think they are worth a good deal. I started hording some replacement P&C sets for my 7.6CR 2.0 engine. I first got a used set and then recently picked up the NOS set (for the 912E which isn't exactly correct, but is nearly identical to the 914 set). I just figured if my engine ever grenades, it would be nice to have some original German made P&C to rebuild with. The 8.0CR sets were too rich for me to think about getting.

While I love to hoard parts I’m wanting to build a new house and pay for it as I go. Selling off some of my high end spares will help me in that endeavor. I have parts like this that I probably won’t be using so it’s time to move some of them on. I haven’t decided if I want to sell these or not. But, I need to do some more research on prices. Things have changed since I bought them!
