I am attempting to remove the sound insulation pad that is glued to the firewall between engine bay and cockpit.

The round approx. 1.25" buttons with a whole in the center that hold the pad in certain locations, how do they come off?

Is there a procedure that you push something in the whole to remove them or do you just break them and replace later?

Thanks for the assistance.

If I remember right, you just need to pinch the other side together and push it through the hole. (You do it from behind the backpad, from the inside of the car)

Just rip them out and replace them. The back pad makes a huge difference in sound in the cabin. But it causes rust.

You can get replacements at NAPA stores. I can get a part number if necessary. Perfect replacement, IMHO.

I just ripped mine out and welded up the holes. Didn't like the big heavy sponge stuck to the firewall anyway.

Fatmat behind the back pad and all is good...
