My chassis is a 1972.

Looking at my rear trailing arm this nut seems to be 27mm.

Reading the 914 PET Full Parts List, which is only for 1976, it says this nut is 18mm.

Did something change between 1972 and 1976?

M18 is the thread diameter. 1.5 thread /mm is the thread pitch. I think you are referencing the size of the hex from flat to flat?

27mm is correct on both sides for nut and bolt head.

Ahhh Haaaa.

I was reading the part list wrong. Now that clears up a lot.
