Bought the WYZE motion sensing night lights for the bathroom originally. They are small, rechargeable, and have a magnetic back. They easily stick to any metal surface; they supply sticky-metal pieces for walls etc WYZE sells them on their website in packs of three.

Neat! Thank you for sharing. smile.gif

Originally, mounted one next to a gate lock; getting the key in at night was
hit-or-missi
The light doesn’t stay on long and is discreet. Later, I mounted one in the bathroom so I would have just enough light to navigate. Then, the AHA moment; front trunk light for the 914 ! No wires required and the magnetic back makes it easy to reposition

Great idea.

@jim_hoyland awesome idea! Also where did you get that cover for the gas tank area? Looks great!

I have similar magnetic motion sensing lights in my Vanagon that i use when camping.

Super handy!

Never even thought about sticking one in a 914 trunk.

I made a paper template. Then transferred the pattern to this lightweight sheet foam. Either bought it from OSH of on-line. I may have a link, but a google seach on sheet foam should do the trick
My cover have been 10 years of use; keeps the tank clean and stops those micro drafts from entering the cabin.

@jim_hoyland awesome! Great trick, does it just stay in there because of the precise shape or did you use anything to hold it in place?

It lays in place. Since it fits the contour of the space, it just sits there. When you make the paper template, you’ll see.

@jim_hoyland thank you! I’ll now have an illuminated trunk and a neat gas tank area!
