So, when I was repairing all of the extra holes in my dash that the PO drilled for various extra switches, There was a square cutout on the dash cover sheet metal...It was obviously a factory cutout, but I couldn't figure out what it was for...I finally found the answer, but figured I would post it here for a fun trivia question....

Anyone care to speculate what it was for? wacko.gif

I suppose that would be a good use especially if you don't care for the passenger in your car lol-2.gif

just thought --- hang on a minute, your car is built one day after mine.

so i dug through some more boxes and found the bit i still had off the dash.
it is there in the stick on part. biggrin.gif
but its not in the dash panel. sad.gif
def factory, there in the backing part and not in the vinyl.

Yes, for headlight washers in Sweden. Guessing they planned for worldwide option because they started using the washer system in 1974 MY. Would not be cost effective to just do a small run for Sweden only.

And the winner is......ejm.

I had no idea, but aftre combing through my restoration books I finally found the answer,
On models from '74-'76 there was an option for headlight washers and that is where the rocker switch was supposed to go. I'm guessing it wasn't a highly sought after option though. Never saw a car yet with them popcorn[1].gif

The switch is a 911 part and is still available.
