Hi can anyone she'd some light or know where I can find the part # for rear koni red shocks.

I've been offered a pair with serial # porsche 91133350113 but cannot find them online. The owner advertised them as Koni rear shocks but they don't have spring perches. Does anyone know what these are and if they fit a 914??

Many thanks in advance, Nick

They are NOT 914 shocks. 911 indicates they are for a 911

I thought that but then read, probably incorrectly, that some of the 911 inserts fit 914 applications. I take it that's wrong. I guess i need to go with a new set of yellows then!

PSI can turn your yellow Koni's into reds while retaining the top adjustability, but no more gas filled action - hydraulic only.

They will match the red's shock dyno characteristics.

That’s only true for 911 boge front struts. You can use Koni 914 or 911 inserts that are designed for boge struts.
I am currently running Koni yellow HD 914 front inserts in 911 3.5” boge struts. They are valved a little less than the Koni HD 911 inserts.
I was also told that new Reds are no longer available, so your only choice is Yellow or get them revalved to red specs. The Koni yellow are not as stiff as Bilstein HD, but beware Koni’s do not have built in bump stops like Bilsteins do. They have to be externally added. I also had to modify my Rebel Racing rear coil overs to work with Koni shocks. They were only designed for Bilstein shocks.

Thanks Steve, I think I'll aim for some new Yellows at the back! Are the bump stops easy to add externally??

You have to take the assembly apart to replace the shock anyway. I bought my bump stops from Stoddard.

Easy to install. Just slide it down the shaft, pointy part down. Here’s a picture. It goes under the hat. #6
@frostyf I added another picture of my koni rear shock setup.

911 rear shocks don’t have any accommodation for springs since the 911 uses torsion bars in the rear. 914 shocks have the groves in them to hold the spring perches.

Front strut inserts are another matter and like it was said, are interchangeable on most Boge struts.

Thanks Mark, that clarifies it, I can't locate sping perches on these ones!

Mark, just for my own understanding, is the 911/912 rear suspension a bit like a type1 beetle? I lowered my old type 1 by taking off spring plates and rotating them up 1 outer spline (I think). Is that similar to your 912??

Funny.. I’m not Mark and have only owned a 993 which has a much updated suspension. I had to google type 1 bug rear suspension and your right, the 64-89 911/912 have a very similar rear torsion bar suspension that looks like a VW bug IRS rear suspension. Which means that a 64-89 911 is just a squashed bug with a couple of extra cylinders.
