My 1970 914 does not have any plug in feature for the turn signal wiring. Will I need to remove the dash top to access the area to install a new harness and connect wires or will removing the gauges and bezel work as well? It seems like it's the only way to access and route the new harness and connections. Any input would be appreciated!

Lower dash will have to be removed. Whole steering column will have to com out. New switch wiring will require soldering connections to plug. 70-71 steering column came out of VW Type 3.

Only the steering column cover needs to come out after you have removed the knee crash pad and instrument cluster plate. The steering shaft does not need to be removed. I just got finished doing this job.
