My friend bought a 3D printer, so I made a custom hockey puck for the steering wheel horn. I've never liked the batwing, but wasn't willing to pay for a 'normal' hockey puck (this one costs $2.00 in materials).

It'll end up being painted (mostly) black, but I may tweak the design a bit and print another one.

I do like it a lot ! Is the horn still working?

I'll let you know when I put the steering wheel back on!

Kidding aside, it should work -- I've taken all the innards from the batwing, so it's functionally identical.

That is nice!
The original horn pad style is nice on my 4cyl, plus originality makes the expensive hockey puck not that desired.
Have been imagining similar alternatives as well.
(A flat brushed metal plate, But the wheel depth is a deterrent)
Your idea could be personalised for modified cars. ex. 914 ITB,
and can be easily put back to original .

Hockey pucks were used in some 914-6GT’s. They have always been desirable. beerchug.gif

Exactly! I've been mostly trying to make any changes easily reversible back to stock.

I printed this in two pieces, so you could just fasten a brushed metal plate as the top piece instead.
