Since I sold my driver, and it will be awhile before I finish my other 914, I kind of miss it. I drove my 356 yesterday, but there is nothing quite like a 914. Sitting basically on the floor, inches from the road is an experience that is hard to duplicate.

I love my silver 356 but also my silver 75 914. I do not drive the 356 that much as I am afraid of getting a scratch on it. I drive my 75 all of the time because the paint is crazed and a rock chip will not hurt anything! It only has 41,000 original miles on it so drives PERFECTLY, yet my 356 drives great tooClick to view attachmentClick to view attachment

"I need another 914" like I need a ___________
When is the last time you saw your therapist?
All kidding aside, they are just fun. Just having discovered the 914 world, I liken the driving experience to a '60's bug or maybe Ghia. Lightweight, simple, ...
Problem is finding a driver on the cheap these days

Hello all on this thread....so what is the difference in driving a 356 and a 914? I know driving a 911 is like sitting on a bar stool but I would think driving a 356 would be pretty much fun. We definitely need a support group for the 914 obsession....when it comes down to 914 parts or food guess what I buy? I have at least 100 parts I have yet to install yet (mostly from you George) and I have lost over 30 pounds lately....figure it makes my car go faster and handle better....is there really a choice? Hope I get it running soon....electrical glitch is causing me much stress...I will prevail!! gg

914 is faster, more agile, and tighter in general. I love driving my 356 but you can't push a 356 like you can a 914. I'm sure somebody can, but your average guy can't.

A 356 uses technology from the 1930's, a 914 uses technology from the 1960's. I believe the secret is with the lightweight and low center of gravity.
And I also prefer pushing a 914 to that of a 356

356's are cool in their own way but there is no comparison to a 914 with regard to handling.
356 utilizes an archaic swing axle which leads to vehicle jacking and poor camber control during hard cornering. As previously stated - swing axles are an obsolete vehicle architecture where as semi trailing arm architecture (used on 914) was still in widespread use well into the 80's,
Get another 914 -- you won't regret having it vs. the 356.

the only comparison I see is two Porsches from two different eras that one can thoroughly enjoy the driving difference between them. There will never be a day until the day I die that I will not be able to go into the garage and drive my 914

Can't agree with you there, I vowed a long time ago to never have a dog or a car I'm afraid of, so I drive all my cars and own nothing but Chihuahua's. The latest one has no teeth so super safe!

Get some of those speedster seats with almost no padding Get your ass down to the floor in the 356

Longer wheelbase, low center of gravity, and wider track plus real struts and shocks and a more modern suspension design make a big difference.

I’ve got a friend who has 3 914s in Scottsdale and he rents them. Not the same as owning your own, but it does fill a void. The SW guys are worth the flight to the sun

Oh man! I didn't know we were supposed to drive these cars. I thought that they were just for wrenching and spending money on. I'll have try driving it when I get it on the road several years from now.
