Odd ball question, in the center console (as well as non equipped cars) there is a small square illuminated indicator for the heater lever, this is on anytime your lights are on.
When installed on the center console it originally had a odd H shaped seal beneath it.
Does some one have one or an image they can share?
Additionally has anyone ever bothered to alter that circuit so that indicator is illuminated ONLY when the lever is pulled?

Here’s mine. Just the plastic plate and bulb. Is the seal below the plate, or above (then mine is missing or not on a 74).

Not much. I think think it just allows the plastic base that sits on top of it to seal against the vinyl better so that there are no gaps.

LOL! No, sorry... my question is EVEN dumber blink.gif What does that button do? I haven't hooked mine up yet.

Nothing. Its just a light illuminating on and off for the heater pull.

mine is even dumber than that.
just illuminates when you turn the lights on.

-----which is @914werke 's question.
can you wire it up to come on when you pull the handle up.
i guess so.

wiring diagrams give me a migraine. biggrin.gif

I know you can, I just hoped someone ELSE had already done the work & I could just benefit biggrin.gif

Should just be able to piggy back off of a wire that goes to a light in one of the center console gauges, no?
914werke
Green wire to lever is hot with key on, when pulled is grounded to power the fan circuit.
Black w/blue to lamp is illumination & is already grounded only energized when light switch is pulled.
So in theory you could disconnect the the existing Black w/blue & the ground from the lamp, branch a
wire from the heater lever hot to the lamp & walla !?
Will that little lamp deal with the voltage/amperes?
FlacaProductions
Even if you do, will it be bright enough to see in the daylight?
I'd go with the mod where you put a lamp in one of the empty sockets behind the fan speed control panel and connect the ground to the lever - when it grounds to turn on the fan, it also turns on the lamp. fill it with an LED and it should read even in daylight.

I like the idea of going LED for brightness, what is the stock incandescent bulb for the OE indicator?

Ive looked at that page IDK how many times & never noticed the indicator was on it.
Notice there is no part for that little seal?

you are not the only one.
only reason i know is i had to track the bulb down 2.5 years ago.
searched through that parts catalogue 20 times before i finally saw it.
so i knew where to go for you.

yep no gasket.
its a mystery part.

EDIT
its not even on the console parts page.
i just went and had a look there.
