@StarBear is correct.


there is a hole on the metal intake plenum seam which allows the fitment of the return spring in the other direction. this is not for 914s but is for the rear engine VW applications.
ie VW 412. everything on those was 180 degree the other way. however the plenum was universal to both cars.
