This weekend was one of, if not my favorite event with PCA: San Pedro Autocross. This is hosted near the Lane Victory and Battleship Iowa, surrounded on 3 sides by water. We managed to start to tear the front sway bar out, so I have the reinforcement plates ready to go. Evan ended up in 2nd in CC07 and I ended up in 3rd. The newer hardware is getting hard to keep up with. A modified BRZ beat Evan by .500s

Aaron has really got his car dialed. The new/used big boy Tangerine exhaust really woke up the top end (hits the chip at 7300). I keep asking for more RPM but he doesn’t want to give it to me with stock rods and cast pistons…… can’t say I blame him.

Aww... You're making me blush. Go on...

Wow,
"Stock rods and cast pistons" Turning 7300 RPM's out of a 2,0?
Can I please ask what your engine build is?

Aaron can get down to the specifics but it's just a basic build he built in his garage.

Stock bottom end, Web cam, AA 96mm P&C mild port work on 2.0L heads, dual valve springs, dual carbs etc.

Long time ago I had a FAT built motor in my 914 with a bigger cam but not as good of heads and I got tired of bumping the rev limiter up until I just took it off completely. 8000 is about where it ran out of air to rev any higher. Never threw a rod or anything but it was on a yearly refresh cycle.

Aaron's has been running strong for maybe 5 years now? The secret to it living is Aaron put on a CB Performance single stage drysump pump. Drysump is the only way to keep a car on slicks alive.

Looks like Aaron tired to imbed a video but I can't see it so here is my in car.

New hardware is tough to keep up with but there is always a faster car, just not always a cooler car.

Engine sounds great, is it drivable for the street? Do you lose a lot of bottom end to get that rpm?

We usually do better against the newer cars, this venue is just bumpy and I can’t go full attack all the time with the bumps. We are running 550lb/in rear springs and some Penske shocks trying to keep the front wheels closer to the ground and off the bump stops but the car is not a fan of bumps. Spring rates much lower though and it is into the bump stops a lot with the Hoosier tires and makes for some spikie handling. We are somewhere on the limit of how stiff you can make the car where chassis flex is starting to equal suspension compression.

Aaron just put on the Tangerine exhaust and I think it has 1 3/4” primaries………. That killed the bottom end a bit but made it pull better up top. It’s definitely harder to launch now. With the old header with smaller primaries, it pulled great off idle but now with the big exhaust, you don’t want to go full throttle under 2500 rpm as it’s a little boggy. Not an issue for Autocross or anything over parking lot speeds though.

It’s got not too wild of a cam with an 86a grind from web. All around it’s the best T4 I’ve driven. Probably the best complement was a guy at this past autocross came up and asked if the car was Honda K swapped.

Aaron is working on putting together a 2270 stroker with some heads of Dave Finch’s FP car with forged internals and a bigger cam…… can’t wait for that to be done and it should be good to 8000+.

Can I ask what engine you are running. 4/6 est HP, gears....Happy Holiday. Mars

It's a 2056 -4 with stock 1st and 2nd, then M-S-Z gears. No idea on the HP, but I plan to dyno it soon.
