PCA sent out an email today with 14 great facts about the 914. One of them was that th -4s never came with carbs. However, the PET does show them for a 1.8 on pages 65, then 68-71. I recollect seeing one in person at a wrecking yard in New Hampshire many years ago. Does anyone else have any information on this rare model? Was it perhaps for the Canadian models?

Pretty sure they were Solex carbs. Used the same air cleaner as some of the VW buses (can't remember which).

There were a very few semi-prototype cars in the first 75 or so that were built with Solex. One such car with a VIN abut 470290006x was a US demonstrator that made the rounds among the dealers. At the end the car was not legal for regular sale, so was sold out the back door and used as a race car. There were probably others.
