Can someone please tell me if the engine tin retainer (aka cylinder baffle spring, aka leaf spring) was painted or plated? Part number: 930-106-228-00 for 914-6. My guess from photos at the usual vendors is it was painted black, but it could also have been black cad or black oxide I suppose. Thank you.

I’m not sure what the material is (spring steel maybe?) but powder coat doesn’t stick to it properly. I just blast them and coat with oil. Try some paint and see how it holds up.
