Couldn't believe it.
While driving to work, it passed me in the exit lane on I-4.
I bet it has been 2 years since I've seen one on the street without it being at some event.
I grabbed my camera like an idiot. Like I was going to take a picture of a stock 914 driving down the road.

A 914 on the road!!! You got to be kidding? What a treat. I have only seen one on the road here, near Columbus in like...three years or so.! I'm jealous LOL

My wife drives her car 5 days a week to and from work. You can see her flying down 101/580/80.

I see at least 2 -3 914s a day. Theres a guy that drives a white 914 without a front trunk lid on Hwy 17 (From Los Gatos, Ca to Santa Cruz) every morning. I drive my 914 at least once a week to work 100 miles round trip.

I rarely see them on the streets. I saw a red/maroon one with a roll bar and time trial tech stickers on the roll bar on Saratoga/280 over the weekend. Some lady was driving it, pretty fast too.

When I do see one often, it's a pale blue one on 680.

I think Santa Cruz, CA is 914 central. We have lots of 60-70's era VW buses, VW Bugs Ghias and 912's in this area too. I see 2 914 daily drivers in Scotts Valley just outside of Santa Cruz on a regular basis. I see more 914's here than I did in So Cal.

The one on 680 does it look like this? I'm ocasionally in that area!

I see a few every week.

A blue 914 with steel wheels passes my office in the morning (Lakeview Blvd) and I see a few over in the Lawrence Livermore National Lab area every once in a while.

I'm all up & down I-4 daily in my 914 and I haven't seen any 914's out there.

You must be dreamin' ...

In my past 4 years of 914 ownership I've seen 2. Just about shit both times. Today My sister told me she saw one parked a couple of miles from my house a couple of days ago. I admonished her for not calling me. I'd have gone over there to try to talk to the owner. She thought it was mine at first because it was red with a tan interior, but she had the presence of mind to check for a MOMO steering wheel (which it didn't have), so she knew it wasn't mine. ohmy.gif

Hmm, I think I've seen yours! But I do see one that is a more pale/darker blue, like a mix of this color pray.gif and this color icon14.gif . Something like that. has a trunk rack on it I think too

I went to Tarpon Springs, FL with my wife last weekend for a day trip. We got lost in some residential neighborhood and MY WIFE spotted a 914 sitting in a driveway before I did. I stopped. No answer at the door.. There was note on the door about the house about it being in probate or something... same note on the car.

Car was a '73, silver blue, but very rough.

I RARELY see 914s here in Central Florida. Maybe one every 3 months or so.

Most have rusted away.

The Orlando meet in June was fun. I DO envy you Cali boys with all your Porsches and no humidity!

Regards,
Bruce Allert
I see about 2 a month. Saw one yesterday on the back of a flatbed tow truck pulling outta the Chevy/Ford car lot (one guy owns both).
Damn thang went the opposite way of me & there was too much traffic to turn around. Looked kinda rough w/ steel wheels. Non the less I wanted to check it out......

I saw one about a year ago in the city..... a pile of crap with a half-assed 916 body kit.

There's one at a local museum, a strictly autoX car, not street legal, plexiglas window, no roof, just 2 inch rollbar, with SEVERE weight reduction (1650 pounds).

There's my last one that has been sitting covered in wet leaves now for 9 months and has never moved.

And mine...

THATS IT!!!!

Teeners are a rare commodity in Saint Louis

Yea, it was in a classic car museum. I use the term "museum" lightly though.

Actually, I thought about buying the car, but it was just not streetable with any level of comfort.

It was a 72, 2.0 with a sideshifter, mechanically it was really tight. It was torch red, and EVERYTHING was painted, even the black bumper tops. Markers and signals were shaved, lowered 2 or 3 inches.. REALLY LOW. Had EMPI aluminum rims, slicks, the whole front windshield was removed, smoothed, and had a customn dash, kinda like a 356 with a plexiglas windshield. The rear pillar was removed, and only a tubular rollbar remained. EVERYTHING that wasn't absolutely necesary to make the car run was removed for weight reduction. Lots of holes where stuff used to be, no carpet, nada.

The car was posted on Auto trader.com for a LONG time. You would remember it.

The owner actually called me recently, telling me he'd sell it for even less that I originally thought it was worth ($6000).

If you're interested, e-mail me, and I'll give you his #. I deleted his pics, but I'm sure he'll sendf them to you if you want.

Yeah, my wife's starting to think that my '74 parts car is assuming "museum status" ... IN MY GARAGE.

Wish I could relocate it to safe storage before she finds out where I hid the aluminum bats.

I see a 914 a week. Usually some older guy out for a pleasure drive. I will often drive close and check it out for awhile (pay a compliment) if I can.

914s rule!

I only see about 1 a month on the road here in Tucson, usually MARKV's yellow car. You'd think with this dry weather there would be more. I know of a couple of 'parked' cars....
