Anyone run these Mobelwagen wheels?

I’m kind of diggin’ the interceptor, but the backspacing on the 15 x 5.5 is 4”. I think they’ll be fine with the 185’s that came with my car but would require some work on the rear fender lips if I ever move to 205’s.

They do have the “schnell” for less money and proper backspacing - and kind of look like 4 lug aftermarket Fuchs.

They’d go on this car. My 1st 914 that I recently acquired from TDSkip (thanks Tom!).

That center would look like crap with the wheel bearing cap and axle nut exposed unless they have some fancy cover.

I kinda like those wheels too. Conversely, if your Mahles are "true", you already have a great looking wheel, that I think is the second lightest wheel that was made for the car. I also believe the Mahles are hubcentric, which these are not. I'd stick with the Mahles... just my 2 cents.

Not hubcentric, no cover for the axle nut and bearing cup, named after a furniture hauling truck.

Even if i did like the looks, that would be enough to put me off.

i'm not running those rims but the fuchs look alike they make. they are the same back spacing and running a 195/65/r15 and no issues with clearance.

I purchased a set of these while they were offered at 25% off 4th of July sale .. got them dirt cheap and no shipping because their local warehouse for my region is right down the road from me, so I picked them up.

I have ALWAYS wanted a set of “aluminum Steelies”, which I thought was just an idea/dream ‘til I realized that Boyd Covington Wheels offered them for thousands of dollars! Plus I also appreciate the look of early wide-5 wheels, though I'd admit that on the 914, it’s probably not ideal. Yea in a perfect world these wouldn't necessarily feature that aspect of design, but I also don't hate it either. I will need to and should be able to manipulate the fenders to work with these since I'm still in the paint/body stage. I understand they’re not for everyone, but that's kind of the point too.. I was actually hoping nobody else would notice them - I like em and am happy with the purchase.

A Speedster rep. came in with these , decent Wheels ,, Boyds wheeis The rims are soft,,,bent on tire machine straightened with dead blow.. Not DOT.. Ive done a bunch of 17s and Know a good Hoop or Barrels ..

Since they have holes for hubcap clips, has anyone installed a set? Bet they look just right with stock hubcaps.

I've been tempted to buy their 520S wide 5 alloys for our '64 Bus to save a few pounds per corner.

These are DOT-T, made of A356 Cast Aluminum and described as a feature “designed to be one of the strongest wheels available”. I have no idea but doubt they’d hold a candle to forged as far as strength go. I would have to say though that I’d bet money the lip of the stock (sport) steelies would bend well before these would … these have a thick lip where as the stock steelies are a surprisingly thin pressed metal - I compared them side by side. Also, don’t get these for any significant weight advantage over the stock steelies, I haven’t weighed them ( I will if anyone’s interested) but I believe the thickness of these compared to the thin steelies, basically make it a wash.

Oh and btw, the hub cap clips are included.

The look of the Mahles is growing on me but these have a weird blue hue. Considering repainting these as either an interim or long term solution.

Jeepguy96 - any pics of your car with the Fuchs look alike wheels installed.

Oh and the Mobelwagen website lists the weight of these at 16 lbs. I did not research how this compares to steelies, mahles or Fuchs.

Is the fact that they're not hubcentric an issue on a street car? I really like these Mobelwagen Interceptors. They remind me of the 5 lug steelies with their 10 hole pattern. Other than a hubcap, wondering if a center could me made that would look decent but not distract from the wheel's other design features.

Question: How do you balance these wheels? The wheel balancing machines I am familiar with needs a round hole to center the wheel. Do you need some kind of round ring adaptor temporarily mounted to it?

The RoadForce machines that use the hub to mount have a large cone and several adapters so that they can fit almost every wheel. Same could be used here.

This is essentially the old aircooled VW T2 wheels done in aluminum instead of steel (and 4 lug, for a beetle instead of a bus).

The 4 lug wheels the guy is asking can take a center cone adapter to balance the wheels. The picture you have is a wide 5 wheel and that one needs a center hub adapter....

According to the link above the Mahle is the lightest OEM 4 x 130mm wheel.

Do whatever makes you happy but perhaps you should give them some more time to grow on you - they are easily the second best looking 4 lug wheel - right after the 5 spoke ATS !
