Okay, so I do fine using 6x15 cookie cutters. In the
rear they are pretty much centered and fit 205/50
Kumho, which is size I want to keep.

But, the tire bulges and moves a lot under load, so
of course 7x15 would be great. So I go on a quest
of cheapness to see if I can find a solution that
doesn't involve fender mods and I could pay for by
selling the full-polished cookies (anyone $ ?)

For 7x15 to fit nice, they need the same offset as the
6x15, 36mm. I know all about the threads of the 23mm
7x15, I'm not going to try it.

There is no combination of wheels and/or spacers
that seem to be able to do this for low bucks unless
I want Joe's Diamond rims at 23 pounds!

I'm thinking about 7x15 ET52 phone dials which I think
can be had cheap, but then I'll still need to spend too
much on long studs (anyone know where to get studs
cheaper than $200?)

Any other better ideas or am I destined to stick with
the 6x15?

Thanks, aktion035.gif

so 7x15 cookies have the extra inch ALL on the outside???
mskala
Yep, those and Fuchs 7's are all ET23 except 911R which
are ET49 and cubic money.

the rule of thumb for (early) Porsche wheels is that the backspace is always the same at about 4-7/8". (the 911R wheels are notable exceptions.) so as wheels get wider, the additional width is always on the outside.

ie - all have 112 mm backspacing smile.gif

I just bought 100mm wheel studs for my 9eleben from Smart racing, they were $4 each or thereabouts

I have installed 7x16 fuchs with 23.5 offset and 205/45's on stock car. I did need to roll the lip and pull a bit on one side. If you could "borrow" someone's 7x15 with a 205 on it you might get lucky.

in fact - as noted on the table - they vary from 108mm to 125mm...

Pre-'87 phonedials. Yes, they are 16", but they are cheap and should fit.

Look at Rich's chart. I long ago copied it to my documents. Invaluable reference.
It shows two 7x15 phone dials, on is E52.5 and E23.5. From the part numbers it looks like they are 944 and 944 turbo. There were also early 928 7x15's which were the standard wheel, 16's optional.

Thanks Tim, I will look there first for studs. I am hoping to
find 7x15 ET52 phones very cheap, as they are not popular
these days. I want to keep the 15" for the rolling radius
and cost of tires. I think I will add about 4 pounds per
wheel, not so bad I guess.

The ET23.3 phone dials are a direct bolt on. I have them on my stock body. Im running 205 50 15 falken azines, but i'll likely drop down to 195 to clear the fender without rolling the lip.

I took a few pics the other day but they don't really show it like real life. I use
2 degrees camber and with the 6x15 there is only room for my finger near the
center of the wheel opening (~1/2"). There is going to be less at the back
end where the body starts curving.

Of course I expect the Kumho to run wider than Falken since it is less of a
street tire.
